
Canaries Add Pitching Depth After Signing RHP Jimmer Kennedy

Sioux Falls, SD- The Sioux Falls Canaries (5-2) announced on Friday afternoon that the organization has signed RHP Jimmer Kennedy to a contract for the 2016 season. To make room on the roster, the Canaries have also released RHP Noah Piard and first baseman Bobby Coyle.
Kennedy enters the 2016 season with a 13-18 record and 3.44 ERA in six professional seasons. The Levittown, PA native spent the last three seasons with the Sioux City Explorers, going 9-10 with 2.84 ERA against American Association opponents.
The right-hander put together his best statistical season of his career with the Explorers in 2015, going 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA in 38 relief appearances. He allowed 18 runs (17 earned) on 46 hits, striking out a career high 61 batters over 56 2/3 innings of work.
Kennedy played in the Australian Baseball league this past winter, making 12 relief appearances over 15 2/3 innings. He went 0-1 with 4.02 ERA while striking out 10 batters, walking eight.
Bobby Coyle Jr. was released after a slow start to his season, going 0-for-6 with an RBI and a strikeout in two games with the Canaries.
Noah Piard was also released after posting an 11.57 ERA in 2 1/3 innings of work.
Jimmer Kennedy and the Birds' open up a three-game series against the Sioux City Explorers at 7:05 PM tonight at Mercy Field and Lewis & Clark Park. Fans can listen to the action live on Sioux Falls Sports Radio AM-1230, FM-98.1 KWSN.
