MONTREAL, QC - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that the club has recalled forward Maxim Lapierre from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League. Lapierre will join the team in Toronto tonight when the Canadiens take on the Leafs at the Air Canada Centre.

Lapierre, 21, has appeared in 13 games with Montreal so far this season, registering five points (3-2-5), six penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating. The 6-foot-2, 197-pound centreman was sent back Hamilton on January 20th before the NHL All-Star break and suited up for the Bulldogs last night (Jan. 26th) in their 3-2 win over the San Antonio Rampage.

In 33 games with the Bulldogs this season, Lapierre has accumulated 21 points (9-12-21), 57 penalty minutes and a plus-7 rating. A native of St-Leonard, Quebec, Lapierre was drafted by Montreal in the 2nd round, 61st overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

In operation since 1936, the American Hockey League is the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. Over 80 percent of NHL players are AHL graduates, and more than 350 AHL players were recalled to the NHL during the 2005-2006 season alone.

The Bulldogs return to action tonight (Jan. 27th) at 7:00 p.m. when they take on the Manitoba Moose in a battle for second place in the AHL's North Division at Copps Coliseum. Tickets for all 'Dogs home games (except home game #32) are available at the Copps Coliseum Box Office, any Ticketmaster outlet, online at www.ticketmaster.ca, or through charge-by-phone at 905-527-7666.
