Canadiens Assign Joe Callahan to Bulldogs

MONTREAL (October 8, 2011) - The Montreal Canadiens announced today that defenceman Joe Callahan has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Callahan, 28, played in 27 games with the Florida Panthers in 2010-2011 registering one assist and 12 penalty minutes. The native of Brockton, Massachusetts also played in 48 games with the Rochester Americans compiling 13 points (four goals, nine assists) and 12 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound defenceman has appeared in 450 career regular season games in the AHL registering 100 points (19 goals, 81 assists) and 359 penalty minutes and 46 career regular season games in the NHL posting four assists and 16 penalty minutes. Callahan was drafted in the 3rd round, 70th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

The 'Dogs will open their 2011-2012 season at home tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum against the Rochester Americans. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs games can be heard live on AM 820 CHAM beginning with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
