Vancouver, BC: The Canadians walked off the AquaSox for the second consecutive day, downing the AquaSox 3-2 Saturday afternoon at Rogers Field at Nat Bailey Stadium. Outfielder Dasan Brown played hero for Vancouver, singling to center field to secure victory.
The AquaSox were cruising early on in the contest. Axel Sanchez hit an RBI single in the top of the third to open the scoring for the Frogs, and Josh Hood extended the lead to 2-0 in the following inning by hitting a sacrifice fly. Sanchez now has five hits in his last four games. He also has driven home five runs during the current series against Vancouver and has 10 RBIs in May.
The Canadians would gradually come back, tying the game 2-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning. In the bottom of the ninth with two runners on, Brown sent the Frogs packing for the day, hitting an RBI single to win the game 3-2 in favor of the Canadians. Vancouver has now won on walk-off hits two games in a row.
From the mound, right-hander Ryan Hawks continued his early season successes. Hawks threw five innings of one-run baseball, striking out five batters and allowing a minimal three hits. He has yet to allow more than one earned run while pitching since April 16. Hawks has also yet to allow a home run across six starts. In relief, southpaw Holden Laws threw 1.1 shutout innings while striking out one batter. Laws now has five consecutive scoreless appearances. Jason Ruffcorn and Troy Taylor also pitched. He is currently on a six-game hitting streak and has hit safely in eight of his nine games. Sanchez, Brock Rodden, RJ Schreck, and Hunter Fitz-Gerald also hit safely. Rodden currently holds an eight-game hitting streak in which he has hit safely 13 times. The Frogs also walked six times with Rodden and Schreck each walking twice.
