(Memorial Stadium - Everett, WA) - Canadians 3B Kellen Sweeney waited twelve pitches into his at-bat against Everett LHP Rusty Shellhorn before he hit a two-run home run over Memorial Stadium's right field wall to power Vancouver to a 4-3 victory on Friday night.

The Aquasox opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st inning when C Mike Zunino hit his 5th double of the summer off of Canadians starter RHP Eric Brown scoring 2B Brock Hebert (walk) to give the West Division pennant winners an early 1-0 lead.

Vancouver would grab a pair of runs in the top of the 3rd inning when CF Carlos Ramirez reached on base on a 3B Patrick Kivlehan error, stole second base and scored on a single from C Tucker Frawley. The Canadians catcher would advance over to third base on a second Everett error and scored on a wild pitch from LHP Rusty Shellhorn giving Vancouver their first lead of the game.

After the Aquasox evened the game, Vancouver managed a pair of runs in the top of the 5th inning when 2B Dan Arcila reached base on an error from SS Ketel Marte, and came around to score on the game's most dramatic at-bat, a twelve pitch battle between Canadians 3B Kellen Sweeney and Everett starter LHP Rusty Shellborn. After fouling off a handful of pitches, Shellborn left a fastball out over the plate that Sweeney deposited over the right field fence to give the C's a 4-2 lead.

Everett would pull to within a run in the bottom of the 6th inning when RF Alfredo Morales tripled off of Canadians reliever RHP Tucker Donahue, and scored shortly later on a single from 2B Brock Hebert.

Vancouver's bullpen would slam the door from there as RHP Jon Lucas (2.0IP) and RHP Arik Sikula (1.0IP) held the fort to secure the Canadians third victory of the second half, topping Everett 4-3.

With the win, Vancouver moves to 3-2 (.600) on the NWL second half and take sole possession of top spot in the West with 34 games remaining in the regular season. Everett falls to 1-2 (.333) on the second half.
