
Boise wins over Tri-City

BOISE, Idaho - Willson Contreras hit a three-run home run in the first inning to give Boise an early lead, as the Hawks pounded out 13 hits in an 8-3 victory over the Tri-City Dust Devils, before 2,898 fans at Memorial Stadium.
Contreras hit a two-strike pitch the opposite way over the right-field wall off Tri-City starter, Shane Broyles, who had a 15 and two-third inning scoreless streak snapped.
The Dust Devils closed within 4-3 in the fourth inning on a Yafistel Roja RBI single, but the Hawks responded with a Dan Vogelbach RBI double in the fifth and a Gioskar Amaya two-run triple in the sixth to break the game open.
The Hawks bullpen tossed five shutout innings to close the game. Willengton Cruz notched the win, fanning four men in two innings of relief. Amaya, Vogelbach, Marco Hernandez, Trey Martin, and Xavier Batista all had multi-hit games for Boise.
Francisco Sosa went 2-for-4 in the loss for the Dust Devils.
Game 2 of the series is tomorrow at 7:15 p.m. with Tayler Scott going for the Hawks, opposite Tyler Gagnon.
