
Canadians Hold on for 5-4 Victory over AquaSox

(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - It took three Canadians (10-18) pitchers to fend off a fierce Everett rally in the bottom of the 9th inning, but LHP Turner Lee got C Johan Quevado to fly out to left field to preserve a hard fought 5-4 victory over the Aquasox (17-11).
Vancouver and the Aquasox took a 1-1 game to the top of the 5th inning when 3B Carl Wise singled and 1B Justin Atkinson walked off of Everett starter RHP Jose Santiago before DH Lane Thomas crushed his 4th home run of the season over the left field wall to give the Canadians a three-run cushion.
The C's would add a run in the top of the 6th inning when LF Connor Panas tripled to right field and scored on a base-hit from CF Andrew Guillotte. The speedy center fielder stole a pair of would-be base hits from the Aquasox with a pair of stellar defensive plays.
Vancouver pitching was stellar prior to the bottom of the 9th inning as LHP Ryan Borucki went 2 2/3 innings of work allowing just a pair of hits and a lone earned run. RHP Evan Smith stole the show going five scoreless frames for Vancouver, striking out five and allowing just one hit begfore he turned the ball over heading to the bottom of the 9th inning.
In the 9th, Everett would send eight hitters to the plate as LHP Stuart Holmes hit the leadoff hitter, walked the next batter and after getting 3B Conner Hale to line out to center field before giving way to LHP Michael Kraft who gave up a single, uncorked a wild pitch and walked in two runs to make it a 5-4 game. John Schneider would pull his third left-hander out of the bullpen and get what he needed as LHP Turner Lee got LF Corey Simpson to ground out and C Johan Quevado to fly out to left field to secure the Canadians second straight victory, 5-4 over Everett.

The Canadians will play the finale of this three-game road swing through Everett at 7:05pm on Friday, July 17th at 7:05pm. Vancouver will send RHP Jon Harris to the mound in search of the C's first series sweep of the summer.
