Burlington Bees News Release

Burlington, IA (July 14, 2005) - The Kansas City Royals have placed Burlington Bees LHP Matt Campbell back on the disabled list, retroactive to July 11th, with a posterior strain in his left shoulder. Campbell was on the DL from June 12-27 with the same injury. He came back and made two appearances before feeling the discomfort again. Campbell, a first-round pick in 2004, is 1-5 with a 4.66 ERA in 13 appearances with the Bees this season.

Replacing Campbell on the active roster is RHP Kraig Schambough. Schambough joins the Bees from short-season Idaho Falls in the Pioneer League where he has no record and a 2.70 ERA in seven appearances. The Royals signed Schambough this June as a non-drafted free agent out of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. He made 28 relief appearances with the Ragin' Cajuns this past season and was 5-1 with a 2.88 ERA and five saves. He pitched 50 innings and allowed 39 hits and 14 walks while striking out 59. Schambough pitched four years at ULL and was teammates with current Bees' pitcher Patrick Green in 2004. Schambough and his wife Kyla have a daughter Kamryn, born last October.

Schambough will be in uniform and available out of the bullpen for tonight's game against the Peoria Chiefs at 7:00 at Community Field. Tonight is a Fat Tuesdays Thirsty Thursday, featuring 2-for-$3 specials on 20oz. bottles of Pepsi products and 12 oz. cans of beer. The gates open at 6:00. Tomorrow night, Friday Fest returns to Community Field. Friday Fest starts at 4:30 in the Budweiser Brat Garden and will feature the band Yellow Submarine.
