Callix Crabbe Goes 3-For-3 But Fisher Cats Fall in Akron 3-0

(Akron, OH)-Callix Crabbe went 3-for-3 with a double and two infield singles and Henderson Alvarez had another strong outing, but Akron topped the Fisher Cats 3-0 on Wednesday night at Canal Park.

Alvarez (3-2) allowed just five hits and two runs (one earned) in his seven innings. He walked two but had no strikeouts.

Akron (32-34) took a 1-0 lead, scoring an unearned run in the bottom of the third inning. Karexon Sanchez singled, moved to second on a grounder and scored on an error.

The Aeros extended the lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning on a solo home run by Matt McBride, his team-leading 12th of the season.

The Fisher Cats (38-26) attempted to get on the board in the top of the fifth inning but John Tolisano, who had walked, was gunned down at the plate trying to score on a double by Crabbe to end the inning.

Akron added a run in the bottom of the eighth against reliever Ron Uveido. Tim Fedroff, who went 2-for-4, singled and moved to second on a wild pitch. He took third on a single by Jason Donald and scored on a sacrifice fly by Chun Chen.

The Fisher Cats continue the roadtrip on Thursday night at Canal Park in Akron. RHP Chad Jenkins (0-1, 2.57) starts for New Hampshire. Game time is 7:05pm and radio coverage on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman begins at 6:45pm.
