Callender and Kryvtsov Named to MLS Team of the Matchday
February 28, 2023 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Inter Miami CF News Release
Inter Miami CF goalkeeper Drake Callender and defender Sergii Kryvtsov have been named as starters in the Team of the Matchday for matchday 1 of the 2023 MLS regular season. The pair earned their spots after a strong performance to help the team secure a victory and a clean sheet in Inter Miami's 2023 home opener against CF Montréal on Saturday, Feb. 25.
Kryvtsov earned his spot in the starting XI following his Heineken Star of the Match performance against Montréal in his MLS debut. The Ukrainian international scored his first Inter Miami goal and the team's first goal of the campaign. The center back started and played the full 90 minutes, helping the team record a first clean sheet and clocking in an 80% duel win rate.
Callender, meanwhile, makes his appearance as a starter in this season's first edition of the MLS Team of the Matchday following six crucial saves and maintaining a clean sheet for the Herons in the win over CF Montréal in the Club's 2023 home opener. Last year, Callender earned MLS Team of the Matchday three times throughout the 2022 regular season and was a finalist for the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award.
