Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - Riley Stotts scored 47 seconds into overtime to power the Calgary Hitmen past the Medicine Hat Tigers 4-3 on Wednesday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
The Hitmen turned in a resilient effort, missing seven regulars from the line-up due to injury, illness and the 2018 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship to erase deficits of 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2.
Mark Kastelic, Jakob Stukel and Hunter Campbell also scored for the Hitmen who have now won two of their last three games and have picked up points in four of their last six. Kastelic also chipped in a pair of assists for his second consecutive three point contest.
David Quenneville, Mark Rassell and Max Gerlach netted goals for the Central Division-leading Tigers.
Calgary, which received a 23-save performance from Nick Schneider, outshot Medicine Hat 32-26.
The Hitmen are back in the 'Dome on Friday, Jan. 5, against the Moose Jaw Warriors. The contest, presented by Bumper to Bumper, begins at 7:00 p.m. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently-worn socks, either in pairs or as singles, to the game for Toasty Toes in support of the Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre and Calgary Women's Emergency Shelter. Sock donations will be accepted on the concourse behind section 211.
It is then off to Lethbridge for Calgary on Saturday, Jan. 6 before returning home on Sunday, Jan. 7 to face the Kelowna Rockets. The 4:00 p.m. start at the 'Dome is another Sunday Funday presented by Pocky. There will be face painters, concourse activities, lots of giveaways and a post-game family skate that is FREE with a game ticket. Sunday Funday contests also feature a specially priced $8.99 ticket (plus applicable fees) for kids 12 and under.
