
WARRIORS' BURKE NAMED WHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH

Calgary, Alta. - The Western Hockey League announced today that Moose Jaw Warriors forward Brayden Burke has been named the WHL Player of the Month for December 2017.
Burke tallied 29 points (8G-21A) and a plus-10 rating in 11 games during December, taking over the lead in the WHL scoring race and keeping the Warriors at the top of the WHL with the league's best record entering 2018.
The 5-foot-11, 165-pound forward from Edmonton, Alta. recorded 24 points (6G-18A) over the course of an active point streak that started on Sunday, December 10 and has featured seven multi-point games. Burke earned 17 points (7G-10A) at even strength, adding 11 points (1G-10A) on the power play and one short-handed point.
His efforts earned him nightly recognition as he picked up five first star honours during games and picked up a second star honour as well. He was also recognized by the WHL with one first star and one second star of the night honour across the league.
Burke's final game of the 2017 calendar year saw him reach a career milestone as he picked up his 300th career WHL point in the Warriors' 6-2 victory against the Brandon Wheat Kings. Burke now leads the WHL in points (77), assists (58) and sits second in the league for Plus/Minus (+32).
Originally drafted by the Red Deer Rebels in the seventh round, 145th overall, of the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft, Burke has played in 214 WHL regular season games, recording 302 points (79G-229A). He has 19 power play goals, two short-handed goals and 12 game-winners.
In 12 career playoff games, Burke has added nine points (4G-5A) with one power play goal and two game-winning goals.
The Warriors are back in action Wednesday, January 3 (7:00 p.m. MST) as the Warriors begin a three-game road trip against the Rebels at the Enmax Centrium.
