Media Release -- ICE's Krebs Named WHL Rookie of the Month

Calgary, Alta. - The Western Hockey League announced today that Kootenay ICE forward Peyton Krebs has been named the WHL Rookie of the Month for December 2017.

Krebs, a 5-foot-11, 162-pound product of Okotoks, Alta. recorded 12 points (4G-8A) in 10 games during the month of December, helping the ICE stay in the thick of the Central Division race.

The first overall pick from the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft had two separate point streaks during the month. He tied a season-high with a four-game point streak between Tuesday, December 5 and Saturday December 16, tallying six points (3G-3A). Later in the month, he put together a three-game point streak between Wednesday, December 27 and Saturday, December 30, picking up five points (1G-4A).

During the course of the month, Krebs was recognized as the second star of the game twice and also earned a pair of third star of the game honours as well. Overall, Krebs earned six points (3G-3A) at even strength and six points (1G-5A) on the power play.

Krebs currently leads the ICE this season with 33 points (9G-24A) in 34 games, leading all WHL rookies in points and assists. In his young WHL career, Krebs has played in 40 WHL games, recording 39 points (10G-29A), featuring two power play goals and four game-winners.

The ICE continue a five-game road trip Wednesday, January 3 (7:00 p.m. CST) when they take on the Swift Current Broncos.
