Swift Current, SK - The Calgary Hitmen opened a two game road trip with a 2-1 win in Swift Current Wednesday night.

Justin Kirsch snapped a 1-1 tie scoring the game winner just over two minutes into the third period. For Kirsch it was his first career goal in the Western Hockey League.

Cody Beach also scored for Calgary late in the first period erasing a 1-0 Broncos lead.

The Hitmen outshot the Broncos 36-24 as Martin Jones made 23 saves to record the win.

The victory marks a significant milestone for Kelly Kisio, his 500th win as Hitmen General Manager.

Calgary is now 34-16-1-1. At 70 points they sit only two points back of both Kootenay and Medicine Hat for the Central Division lead with games in hand on both teams.

Calgary will open a home and home series with the Tigers in Medicine Hat tonight.

The return match is set for Saturday night at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
