MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (38-36) snapped their four-game losing streak, shutting out the Birmingham Barons (35-37), 5-0, Sunday on the 25th Anniversary of The Sandlot at Riverwalk Stadium. Montgomery starter Genesis Cabrera (6-4) hurled his third scoreless start of the season, striking out seven in a career-high eight scoreless innings.

Cabrera frustrated the Barons throughout. The southpaw kept the base paths clear, allowing just two singles in the first six innings.

Although the 21-year old ran into trouble in the seventh, Cabrera squandered back-to-back singles from Luis Alexander Basabe and Ryan Brett. After a fly out of Trey Michalczewski, Biscuits' first baseman Nate Lowe caught an infield fly off the bat of Danny Mendick. As Lowe held onto the caught pop out, Basabe dared the infielder by speeding home. In response, Lowe fired a perfect throw to catcher David Rodriguez, who administered the tag for the third out.

As the Barons' bats were helpless, the Biscuits provided run support for their starter, thanks to an RBI-single by Lowe in the first. Montgomery second baseman Peter Maris doubled the lead, plating a run on an RBI-triple off Birmingham starter Bernardo Flores (0-1).

In the eighth, Ryan Boldt tallied a third score, blasting his career-high sixth home run, while Mike Brosseau added further insurance with an RBI-double. Brosseau supplied a 5-0 lead, scoring on a wild pitch from Zach Thompson.

Montgomery's Roel Ramirez, upon replacing Cabrera at the start of the ninth, retired Birmingham in order, completing the shutout.

The Biscuits continue a six-game homestand against the Birmingham Barons Monday at 6:35 p.m. on Golden Biscuits Monday at Riverwalk Stadium. The Biscuits will start Brandon Lawson (2-0) while Birmingham looks to Dylan Cease (NR), who will be making his Double-A debut.

The remainder of the series includes Southern Fried Southern League and Dollar Dog Tuesday on June 26.
