
BayBears Record League-High Ninth Shutout Win

MOBILE, Ala. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, recorded their league-high ninth shutout win of the season, blanking the Tennessee Smokies 9-0 Sunday evening at Hank Aaron Stadium.
Jesus Castillo (5-4) allowed just one hit in five scoreless innings pitched. He walked two batters and struck out three batters. The BayBears (40-32 overall, 3-1 second half) only gave up two hits in the game.
Mobile opened the scoring early with three runs in the first inning and never looked back. Brennon Lund went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Luis Rengifo scored three runs and stole his 31st base of the season.
Brendon Sanger and Jared Walsh both added home runs later in the game. Sanger's home run in the fourth gave the BayBears a 4-0 lead, and Walsh capped the scoring with his 19th home run of the year.
On the current three-game win streak, the BayBears have tallied 30 runs on 35 hits with seven home runs against Tennessee (37-37, 1-3) pitching.
The BayBears continue the six-game home series against Tennessee Monday at 6:35 p.m. CDT. Right-handed pitcher Joe Gatto (1-2, 8.82 ERA) is scheduled to make the start against righty Duncan Robinson (3-1, 3.36 ERA) for the Smokies.
