Buschmann Pitches Complete-Game Shutout for 1-0 Win

The Louisville Bats (54-55) defeated the Toledo Mud Hens (45-62) Saturday in a low-scoring game, 1-0 at Louisville Slugger Field. Righty Matt Buschman (W, 2-4, 4.05) pitched a complete-game shutout for the Bats and gave up four hits while striking out four. This was the first complete-game shutout since Dylan Axelrod on August 5, 2014.

In the sixth inning center fielder Ryan LaMarre singled with one out, stole second, and scored on a Josh Satin single to right-center field for the Bats two hits and lone run of the game.

Lefty Matt Boyd started on the mound for the Mud Hens making his Detroit Tigers organization debut. Boyd walked the bases loaded in the first inning with two outs, but escaped on a fly ball to right field to end the inning. Righty Angel Nesbitt (L, 0-4, 6.00) started in the sixth and took the loss allowing one run on two hits in two innings pitched and struck out three.

The Bats face off for game three of the series against the Toledo Mud Hens at 6:05 pm Sunday hoping for the sweep and to reach .500 for the first time since after game one of a double header on June 28th with a record of 38-38. Projected on the mound for the Bats is righty Robert Stephenson (4-0, 2.40) and for the Mud Hens righty Thad Weber (6-7, 3.91).
