Pigs Try to Snap Skid against Tides
August 1, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will look to snap a four-game skid when they host the Norfolk Tides on Saturday night. First pitch from Coca-Cola Park is slated for 6:35 p.m.
LHP Anthony Vasquez (7-3, 3.73) gets the ball for the IronPigs on Saturday. The southpaw earned the win on Monday at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre when he gave up one run on five hits while walking two and fanning two over eight innings of work. Over his last 3 GS, Vasquez is 3-0 with a 0.82 ERA and will look to continue his recent success against his former team.
RHP Eddie Gamboa (8-7, 3.53) will be on the bump for manager Ron Johnson's squad on Saturday. Gamboa-who will be throwing on three days' rest-was tagged with the loss on Tuesday at Pawtucket after giving up four runs on five hits to go along with four walks and six strikeouts over 5.2 IP. The knuckleballer will be making his second start of the year against Lehigh Valley. Back on June 14 at Coca-Cola Park, Gamboa got the loss against the Pigs when he surrendered one run on two hits while walking two and fanning two in his five innings of work.
The first 3,000 fans 18 and older will receive a Bacon Cap presented by East Stroudsburg University. There is also a postgame concert in the Bud Light Trough for one hour after the final out.
