FC Dallas News Release

LA MANGA, Spain - The Dallas Burn got goals from Eddie Johnson and Ty Maurin as they rallied for a 2-1 victory over Stabaek of Norway today in La Manga, Spain. With the victory, the Burn is now 1-1-1 in the La Manga Cup with one game remaining.

Stabaek struck first in the 22nd minute of the match, converting a penalty kick after Burn 'keeper Scott Garlick was whistled for taking down an attacker in the box. Christian Holter converted the penalty kick for a 1-0 Stabaek lead.

The Burn drew level in the 30th minute on a clinical finish from Eddie Johnson. Ronnie O'Brien started the play by beating his defender down the right flank and taking the ball into the corner. O'Brien sent a cross into the box which was one-timed into the roof of the net by Johnson from ten yards out.

The Burn netted the game-winner in the 72nd minute, with 2004 draft pick Maurin finding the back of the net. Toni Nhleko sent a cross into the box which was brought down by Bobby Rhine. Rhine was not able to get a shot off before the ball was knocked away by the Stabaek defense. The loose ball caromed around in the box before Maurin pounced on it, lifting it over the charging 'keeper.

The Burn will play one more match in the La Manga Cup as they face Bodo Glimt, also from Norway, on Thursday. The team will then return to Dallas on Saturday.

Notes:

* Burn forward Jason Kreis saw his first action since suffering a torn ACL last July when he entered the game in the 72nd minute.

* Defender Cory Gibbs made his Burn debut, entering the match for David Wagenfuhr in the 41st minute after Wagenfuhr suffered a hip flexor.

* First round draft pick Ramon Nunez saw his first minutes with the Burn, playing the final 12 minutes. He had been nursing a sore quad.
