Boise Burn News Release

BOISE, Idaho - On June 16, 2007, Rio Grande Valley WR George Williams lit up the Burn secondary for 114 yards and four touchdowns in the Dorados 62-32 win at Qwest Arena. In 2008, Williams hopes to be catching many more TD passes, this time, to the delight of the Boise faithful. Today, the Boise Burn announced that the 6-1, 210 pound receiver, with extensive arena football experience, has been assigned to Burn from the arenafootball2 league office.

Williams, entering his fourth full season in the af2, led the league last year in TD's with 46 (42 receiving, 4 rushing), making his mark for fifth best in the af2 record books for most TD's in a season. Williams also ranks third on the all time af2 TD list with 156 career scores and third on the af2 career point list with 944.

"I'm really happy to be with an organization of this caliber and I'm looking forward to helping bring a championship to Boise this year," said Williams on news of his assignment.

Prior to coming to Boise, Williams was in camp with the Dallas Desperados. He was released preceding the AFL's regular season opening. He spent several years in the AFL; two seasons with the Las Vegas Gladiators (2002-2003), the Orlando Predators (2004), the San Jose Sabercats (2005), and the New York Dragons (2006).

His collegiate career included two years with Kansas State.

The Burn have also been assigned today, WR/DB Terrence Sanders. Sanders, a rookie out of Eastern Illinois, began the 2008 season with Utah Blaze where he played two games, recording 4.5 tackles before being released after Week 2.

To make room on the roster for Williams and Sanders, WR/DB's Bryan Langford and Chris Boock were put on re-assignment through the af2 office.

The Burn's second season kicks off on Apr. 5 in Tulsa against the defending af2 ArenaCup Champion Talons, who began the year ranked number one in the af2 coaches' poll. It'll be a true test of this year's Burn team as Tulsa maintained the No. 1 ranking for Week 2 as announced by the af2 office today. Tulsa's total included 25 first-place votes. The Talons opened up defense of their league title with a convincing 69-13 home win on Saturday over Amarillo.

The Burn's home opener is Apr. 19 against the Tri-Cities Fever. Season tickets are available by calling (208) 383-0080. For more information and to get a full schedule, visit www.boiseburn.com.
