Boise Burn News Release
(Boise, ID) - The Boise Burn has suspended day-to-day operations effective immediately.
Idaho Sports Properties, the managing partner of the Burn, continues to research opportunities to play football, including a proposal to join the newly-formed "Arena Football 1," which was announced Monday in Tulsa, OK.
Eric Trapp, President of Idaho Sports Properties, released the following statement on the situation:
"The owners of Idaho Sports Properties, Block 22, LLC, were only a partial owner of the Boise Burn football franchise. The majority owner has decided not to move forward at this time. Block 22 has significant existing investment in the Grove Hotel, Qwest Arena, and Idaho Steelheads hockey and will focus on that."
Block 22 has not ruled out a return of indoor/arena football to Qwest Arena. In order for it to happen, however, a financial partner is needed to replace the majority owner of the Burn.
With a new investor, the Burn could look to join the new league. Sixteen teams were announced at the initial press conference, though few specifics on the structure and format of the league were revealed.
Season-Ticket holders who made a financial commitment for the 2010 season will be refunded immediately.
