Bumgarner to Particpate in XM Futures Game

NORWICH, CT- The Connecticut Defenders and the San Francisco Giants are proud to announce that LHP-Madison Bumgarner has been named to US Team and will participate in the XM Futures Game Sunday, July 12 in St. Louis, MO. Bumgarner joins former teammate, Angel Villalona (San Jose) as the only two members to represent the Giants.

Madison Bumgarner the Giants #1 rated prospect according to Baseball America received the promotion to Double-A on May 9 and since then has been impressive. The 19 year old from Hudson, NC was selected to the E.L. All Star Team as well, adding to an already stellar list of accomplishments. Bumgarner currently holds a (5-1) record, tied for second most wins on the team and has a 1.96 ERA which is tops among starters. His top achievements this year include setting a season high with 10 strikeouts (May 23) as well as tying a career high with 8 innings allowing one run en route to his fifth win of the season in his last start (June 25), all of which occurred against division rival Portland.

The 11th annual Futures Game will take place on All-Star Sunday, July 12 at 2 p.m. ET, in St. Louis, MO and can be seen live on MLB.TV, ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD and followed live on MLB.com with complete coverage before, during and after the game. In the 10 year span of the Futures Game, Major League Baseball has seen 39 All-Stars and over 200 big league players participate.
