Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

Shawn Bowman went 4-4 with a double and Caleb Stewart homered in his second game back from the disabled list but Binghamton lost 12-1 to Fisher Cats Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium. The B-Mets went 1-10 with runners in scoring position leaving nine men on base in the contest.

New Hampshire scored first off Brad Holt in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. With two outs, Al Quintana, who went 4-5 with four RBIs, hit a two-run double to deep center field.

Caleb Stewart answered with his second home run of the season to cut the Fisher Cats' lead to 2-1 as he took New Hampshire starter Luis Perez deep to left to lead off the bottom of the second inning.

Brian Dopirak's league-leading 19th home run came with two outs in the third off Holt to make it 4-1. It was a two-run shot which scored Adam Calderone, who walked one batter before.

New Hampshire (35-44) added a run in the sixth off reliever Edgar Ramirez to make it 5-1. Five more runs were added in the seventh off Clyne when the Fisher Cats strung together eight straight hits to make it 10-1. Bryan Kervin added a two-run homer in the ninth off Roy Merritt to yield the final of 12-1.

Holt made his third start for Binghamton (29-49) and was pulled after striking out his season-best sixth batter. He went 3.1 innings, giving up four runs on four hits to drop to 0-2.

Perez went 6.1 innings for his fifth win, giving up one run on nine hits.

Binghamton will look to avoid a New Hampshire sweep Friday night. The B-Mets will throw LHP Mike Antonini (5-2, 5.02) and the Fisher Cats will send RHP Rey Gonzalez (3-5, 3.18) to the mound. The first pitch is slated for 7:05 and the radio broadcast on Newsradio 1290 WNBF begins at 6:50 with the Horizons Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show.
