Durham, NC - One night after Durham handed the Lynx an 8-0 beating, four Ottawa pitchers combined to shutout the Bulls, 2-0 on Tuesday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The Lynx broke the scoreless tie in the top of the sixth inning when Chris Roberson hit a sacrifice fly to score Joey Hammond. Hammond led the inning off with a base hit and moved to third on an error by shortstop Ben Zobrist and a sacrifice bunt from Carlos Leon. Ottawa increased their lead to 2-0 after back-to-back doubles from Lou Collier and Gary Burnham to lead off the seventh inning.
LHP J.A. Happ started for Ottawa, but left after 3 1/3 innings with an apparent injury after giving up just two hits and striking out three. RHP John Ennis (3-0) earned the win by finishing the fourth and pitching through the sixth inning, allowing just one hit while striking out four. RHP Kane Davis pitched a perfect seventh inning and RHP Brian Sanches held the Bulls scoreless through the eighth and ninth innings to earn his ninth save of the season.
LHP J.P Howell (3-5) took the loss pitching seven innings, allowing four hits, one walk, and two runs (one earned) while striking out five.
