
Louisville Holds On To Beat Charlotte

FORT MILL, S.C. - May 29, 2007 - North Carolina native Josh Hamilton had a triumphant return to the Carolinas with a home run on the first pitch he faced in the top of the first to give Louisville a 1-0 lead en route to a 4-3 win over Charlotte. Hamilton, from Apex, NC, was making his first start on rehab assignment from Bats parent club the Cincinnati Reds. The newest pitcher on the Knights roster, Andrew Sisco (0-1, 13.50) suffered his first loss with Charlotte. Starter Shaun Babula went 3 2/3 innings, giving up one run and struck out two Louisville batters.
Louisville pitcher Johnny Cuteo (1-0, 3.60), promoted from Single-A Sarasota of the Florida State League, picked up his first Triple-A win. Cuteo pitched 5 innings with six strikeouts and gave up two earned runs.
The streak continues for Knights outfielder Jerry Owens who added to his streak of consecutive games of reaching base with 30. Owens was 3-4 with a solo home run in the 3rd, his second of the season. Josh Fields went 0-4 ending his consecutive games of reaching base at 25 games.
The Knights and Bats continue their series on Wednesday. LHP Heath Phillips (4-3, 4.07) will start for the Knights. LHP Mike Gosling (3-2, 2.94) will take the mound for the Bats.
