Belleville Bulls News Release

PLYMOUTH, MA - The Belleville Bulls kicked off another 3 in 3 weekend on the road as they battled the Plymouth Whalers at Compuware Arena on Friday night. Both clubs came into the contest hoping to snap losing streaks but it would be the Whalers who found the back of the net first on route to a 3-0 victory.

A fairly even opening frame saw both teams but a number of quality scoring chances on starting netminders Charlie Graham and Alex Nedeljkovic to begin the period. At 15:48 Jordan Subban sat two minutes for tripping, handing the Whalers their second straight power play. Just under a minute into the man advantage, Mississauga, Ontario native Mathew Campagna made no mistake as he potted his 16th of the season. Over age defenceman Gianluca Curcuruto and Swedish prospect Victor Crus Rydberg picked up the helpers on the games first goal. Plymouth led 13-9 in shots after 20 minutes.

The Whalers picked up right where they left off to begin the second stanza. 1996-born left-winger Sonny Milano picked up his 12th point of the season when he beat Graham unassisted at 9:18.

The Bulls had four power play opportunities in the period but couldn't solve Nedeljkovic while ahead a skater. In the dying minutes of the period Kingston, Ontario native Francesco Vilardi scored his 4th of the campaign short handed to put his club ahead 3-0. The Bulls led 30-24 after two periods of play.

Belleville had a great scoring chance denied half way through the final frame when Nedeljkovic made one of his 41 saves and stopped forward Adam Laishram.

The Bulls out shot the Whalers again in the third period but it wasn't enough. Nedeljkovic recorded his 4th shutout of the season as the Whalers add two points and improve to 16-27-2-1. Charlie Graham made 30 saves in the loss. Belleville drops their 6th consecutive game.
