Windy City Bulls News Release
The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO Harris Bank, the official G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, fell to the Grand Rapids Drive on Saturday night, 105-92.
In front of a jam-packed Sears Centre Arena crowd on Community Heroes Night, the Bulls hosted the Drive for the second time in the past two weeks, with the beginning of this contest taking on a similar feel to the previous meeting.
Grand Rapids controlled the pace for most of the first half, in fact leading by the same first quarter score (27-18) as the last contest on January 25.
The Drive dominated the backboards in the first half, out-rebounding Windy City 28-14 led by Donta Hall with seven rebounds to go along with eight points, and Tra-Deon Hollins grabbing seven rebounds as well.
The Bulls were able to rally to outscore the Drive in the second quarter 29-21, to cut the deficit to just a single point heading into the halftime locker room, 48-47.
Leading the comeback for the Bulls were Ferrakohn Hall with 13 points and Jaron Blossomgame with 10 points and three rebounds.
The lead toggled back and forth to start the second half, leading to ten lead changes and six ties through three quarters. Windy City grabbed the lead heading into the fourth on a three-pointer by Tre'Darius McCallum, 76-74.
However, in similar fashion to the final frame two weeks ago, Grand Rapids took control in fourth quarter once again, tightening the screws on defense, forcing seven Windy City turnovers and outscoring the Bulls 31-16 down the stretch to take the win.
Todd Withers knocked down three-pointers for the Drive on three consecutive possessions in the final minutes to lead all scorers with 22 points and nine rebounds. Former Iowa Hawkeye Adam Woodbury finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds, seven of those coming on the offensive glass.
Leading the scoring effort for the Bulls for the third straight game was Blossomgame with 21 points and five rebounds. Also contributing to the six Windy City players in double figures were Hall with 15 points and Milton Doyle with 10 points and eight assists.
Windy City (12-19) will welcome Tacko Fall and the Maine Red Claws on Monday night before heading out for one last road game versus the Erie Bayhawks prior to the All-Star Break.
