Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - Following their third consecutive sweep, the Green Bay Bullfrogs will attempt to win their ninth game in a row tonight against the La Crosse Loggers on the road.
The Bullfrogs defeated the Wisconsin Woodchucks and 4-0 and 6-5 in yesterday's doubleheader in Wausau.
Nathan Disch pitched seven shutout innings in Game 1 with eight strikeouts and allowed just one hit.
The Bullfrogs scored two runs in the first inning and another two in the ninth. Robb Paller and Matthew De La Rosa recorded RBI singles in the opening frame. Franco Guardascione and Jack Strunc picked up RBI in the ninth to add insurance runs and give Green Bay a 4-0 lead.
Luke Lind picked up the win in the second game in 5 1/3 innings of relief. He struck out seven batters and gave up three runs on three hits.
The Bullfrogs were on the board in the top of the first inning. Ryan Donovan recorded a RBI single, and De La Rosa plated two more runs with a double.
Wisconsin answered with a sacrifice fly in the first to score a run, and Green Bay added one in the second with a run-scoring groundout for Paller.
Green Bay extended its lead with RBI from Paller and Danny Rosenbaum to give the Bullfrogs a 6-1 advantage.
Ty Black connected on a grand slam to cut the deficit to one in the bottom of the sixth inning, but the Bullfrogs' bullpen held Wisconsin hitless in the final three innings. Jeremy Graf finished the final 1 1/3 innings to earn the save.
Green Bay improved its record to 6-0 in double-header games this season.
The Bullfrogs have yet to name a starter for tonight's game, but Brandon Lawson will be on the mound for La Crosse, making his fourth start of the season. The right-hander comes in with a 0-1 record with a 4.29 earned run average. Lawson's last start came on June 25, and he pitched 4 2/3 shutout innings on five hits with eight strikeouts in a 7-1 win over the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.
The Bullfrogs finished the first half of the season in second place behind the Kenosha Kingfish, and tonight marks the first day of the second half. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. at Copeland Park.
The Bullfrogs will return to Joannes Stadium on July 3 for a game against the Wisconsin Rapids at 7:05 p.m. with Post Game Fireworks presented by Pepsi.
