Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Kenosha, Wis. - The Kenosha Kingfish are headed to their first ever Northwoods League Playoffs after clinching the first half Northwoods League South Division championship by taking down the Lakeshore Chinooks 2-1 Tuesday night at Simmons Field. Kingfish home playoff tickets will go on sale starting today at noon.
By capturing the first half division title, the Kingfish clinch home field advantage for the first game of the Northwoods League Divisional Playoffs round. The game is slated for Monday, August 10th at 7:05pm at Simmons Field. If the Kingfish advance past the first game of the Northwoods League Divisional Playoffs, they would play again Tuesday, August 11th with the location to be determined. If the Kingfish were to win the second game, they would advance to the best of three Summer Collegiate World Series, August 13th-15th.
Earlier in the year, The Northwoods League announced a new playoff format that will begin with the 2015 season. This new format will increase the teams participating in the playoffs from four to eight, as two additional teams will be added per division to take part in a pair of single-elimination games on the first two days of the playoffs. The two teams that win both of their single-elimination games in each division will move on to the best of three Summer Collegiate World Series.
