Bullfrogs Fall to 4-7 with Walk-Off Loss to Madison

Mallards' third-baseman Nicholas Howard hit a walk off single to right-center field in the bottom of the ninth, and the Bullfrogs lost their first game of a two-game set against Madison at Warner Park, 5-4.

The Bullfrogs took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second when Chris Hoo doubled, advanced to third on a ground ball out, and then came home to score on a wild pitch.

The Mallards tied it up at 1-1 in the bottom half of the second frame. Jeff Zimmerman scored on a sacrifice fly form Taylor Gushue.

Green Bay tallied three runs in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead. The lone RBI in the frame came from Jason McMurray, who drove home Alex Abrams on a single up the middle. Brian Celsi came in to score on an error by Mallards pitcher Daniel Gibson, and Nick Stein scored when Justin Seager grounded into a double play.

The Bullfrogs would remain scoreless for the rest of the night.

In the top of the sixth, the Mallards cut the lead to 4-2 when Jeff Zimmerman scored on an error by Ransom LaLonde.

The Mallards' Derek Fisher tied the game at 4-4 in the seventh inning with a two-run home run off of Dylan Mendoza.

Mendonza was relieved by Bud Jeter, who went two and two thirds scoreless before giving up the walk-off single to Howard in the ninth.

Jeter (1-4) took the loss for the Bullfrogs. Taylor Black allowed one earned run in five innings. Mendoza allowed two earned runs in one and a third.

Game two of the series is Tuesday at 7:05 PM from Warner Park in Madison. It is the final game of the season series. The Bullfrogs will be going for the season series win and will have a chance to bring home the Taco Bell Traveling Trophy for the winter.
