
Bulldogs Release Peter Lenes; Add Robert Slaney

HAMILTON, ON - Hamilton Bulldogs and Montreal Canadiens general manager Pierre Gauthier announced today that Peter Lenes has been released from his Professional Try-Out contract. Also, Robert Slaney has been recalled to the Hamilton Bulldogs from the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones and will be available to suit up tonight for the Bulldogs.
Lenes, 25, played one game for the Bulldogs, last night against the St. John's IceCaps. He spent a total of 3:16 minutes on the ice and recorded two penalty minutes. Lenes has played in 17 games for the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers this season, recording 20 points (14 goals, 6 assists) on 73 shots on goal, four penalty minutes, and a +11 plus/minus rating. The 5-foot-4, 158-pound left-winger is tied for second in goals scored for the Nailers. Lenes has also suited up for the ECHL's Trenton Titans in 2011-2012, playing 32 games and recording 12 points (7 goals, 5 assists) with 98 shots on goal and 18 penalty minutes. The Shelburne, Vermont native played in Austria in 2010-2011, suiting up for 49 games with the Graz 99ers and registering 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) on 22 shots on goal while maintaining a +3 plus/minus rating. Lenes has previously played with Hamilton Bulldogs forward Philip DeSimone, suiting up for the USHL's Sioux City Musketeers in 2004-2005.
Slaney, 23, notched one assist in nine games with the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals, and 18 points (11 goals, 7 assists) in 30 games with the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones this season. A product of the QMJHL's Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, the 6-foot-2, 203-pound left-winger has registered eight assists in 52 career games in the AHL. Slaney added 53 points (19 goals, 34 assists) in 113 career games in the ECHL. The Upper Cove Island, Newfoundland native Slaney was acquired by the Montreal Canadiens as part of the Hal Gill trade to the Nashville Predators yesterday, Friday, February 17th, 2012.
The Bulldogs' continue their 3-in-3 weekend TONIGHT, Saturday, February 18th, 2012 when they take on the Rockford IceHogs at 7 p.m. at Copps Coliseum before travelling to Rochester on Sunday, February 19th, 2012 to face the Americans at 5:05 p.m. at Blue Cross Arena.
