HAMILTON, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs mounted a third period comeback against the Rockford IceHogs, scoring a franchise record three goals in 38 seconds - and four goals in 3:47 - to steal a 5-2 victory.

The IceHogs got the first goal of the game when Brandon Segal shot the puck off Bulldogs goaltender Nathan Lawson's skate from behind the net. The 'Dogs tied the game at 1 just 1:36 later when Joonas Nattinen took advantage of Andreas Engqvist's rebound to beat IceHogs netminder Alexander Salak. Blake Geoffrion also earned his first point as a Bulldog on the play. The first period would end with Rockford leading Hamilton 13-11 on the shotclock.

With 4:19 remaining in the second period, Brandon Pirri converted Ben Smith's pass into a top shelf goal, making it 2-1 Rockford. The Bulldogs led the IceHogs 28-24 in shots after 40 minutes.

But the 'Dogs mounted a quick comeback in the third period when, with 4:55 minutes left to play, Blake Geoffrion scored his first goal as a Hamilton Bulldog to tie the game at 2. Hamilton took a 3-2 lead just 22 seconds later on a goal by Gabriel Dumont. Then, Salak earned a roughing penalty after taking a shot at Ian Schultz. The Bulldogs took advantage of the ensuing power play to score their third unanswered goal of the game, this one a wraparound marker by Garrett Stafford, 16 second later. Carter Hutton took over the Rockford net at this time but did not face any shots. Philip DeSimone added an empty-net goal at 19:41 to seal the Bulldogs' 5-2 victory over the IceHogs. Dumont and Schultz both recorded two points in this game, as did newcomer Geoffrion, who was named the first star of the game.
