Bulldogs Fall in Regular Season Finale

The Hamilton Bulldogs concluded their 2002-03 regular season on Sunday with a 4-2 loss to the Rochester Americans at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester.

The Bulldogs finished the regular season with a franchise best 110 points on a record of 49 wins, 19 losses, 8 ties and 4 overtime losses.

Scoring the Bulldogs goals in Rochester were Tony Salmelainen and Raffi Torres. The goal scored by Torres was his first with the Bulldogs.

The Amerks had goals from Norm Milley, Jason Pominville, Riley Nelson and Denis Hamel. Rochester clinched the final playoff position in the Western Conference with the win.

In goal Eric Fichaud made 36 saves for the Bulldogs, while Amerks rookie goaltender Ryan Miller stopped 27 shots.

On special teams the Bulldogs scored one power play goal on four chances, as well as on shorthanded marker. Hamilton prevented Rochester from scoring on their six power play opportunities.
