
Penguins to Meet Utah in Opening Round of 2003 Calder Cup Playoffs

WILKES-BARRE, Pennsylvania -- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will meet the Utah Grizzlies in the Western Conference Qualifying Series (Series "Q2") of the 2003 American Hockey League Calder Cup playoffs. The first game of the best-of-three series is scheduled for Thursday, April 10 at 7:05 p.m. at the First Union Arena at Casey Plaza.
After an off day on Friday (April 11), the series will resume with Game Two on Saturday (April 12) at 7:05 p.m. and if necessary, Game Three would be held on Sunday (April 13) at 5:05 p.m.
The Penguins (No. 8 seed) completed their fourth AHL season tonight with a 4-3 overtime win over the Philadelphia Phantoms at the First Union Spectrum. Toby Petersen scored two goals, including the game-winner 56 seconds into overtime as the Penguins finished the season third in the South Division with a 36-32-7-5 (84 points) record.
The Penguins were 1-3-0 in the regular season against the Grizzlies (No. 9 seed), including a 1-1 record at the First Union Arena at Casey Plaza.
Tickets for the first three home games of the 2003 Calder Cup Playoffs (Games A-C) on now on sale and can be purchased at the First Union Arena at Casey Plaza Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations and telephone outlets.
Tickets can be purchased at the First Union Arena Box Office, and at all Ticketmaster locations and telephone outlets. Payment accepted at the Arena Box Office includes cash, American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa. The First Union Arena Box Office does not accept telephone orders or personal checks. There is no service fee for tickets purchased at the First Union Arena Box Office. Single-game ticket prices for the Penguins' first three home games of the 2003 Calder Cup Playoffs are $32.50 (Yellow zone), $22.00 (Red zone), $19.00 (Gold zone) and $15.25 (Blue zone).
The Penguins would also like to let fans know that playoff ticket packages are still available. A playoff ticket package allows fans to keep the same seat for all home playoff games. Please note that ticket packages are available only at the Penguins Team Store in the Arena Hub Plaza or by phone at 208-PENS (7367).
The Penguins are off tomorrow and will resume practice on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Ice Box Skating Complex in Jenkins Township. Practice times are subject to change so please call Jim Morlock in the Penguins' media relations office to confirm dates and times.
