Bulldogs Add Depth

Hamilton Bulldogs News Release


The Hamilton Bulldogs have recalled goaltender Mike Morrison, defenceman Jay Vancik, and forwards J.J. Hunter and Sean McAslan from the Columbus Cottomouths of the East Coast Hockey League. Also the Bulldogs have signed free agent defenceman Aaron Power from the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League to a Amateur Tryout Contract.

Morrison played in 38 games for Columbus this season, earning a record of 9-18-9, a goals-against average of 3.48 and a save percentage of .892.

Vancik has split the 2002-03 season between Hamilton and Columbus. The 22-year-old defenceman earned 15 penalty minutes and went scoreless for Hamilton. In 36 games with Columbus he posted 15 points (5g-10a-15pts) and 46 minutes in penalties.

Hunter skated in 70 games with Columbus this season posting 53 points (17-36-53) and 82 penalty minutes. The 6'1, 185 pound played in one game for the Bulldogs back on January 24th at Manitoba.

McAslan has posted 32 points (15-17-32) and 132 penalty minutes in 53 games with Columbus this season.

Power, a 20-year-old native of Cambridge, Ontario, played in 65 games for Sarnia and was the Sting's top scoring defenceman with 57 points (19-38-57), along with 82 penalty minutes. The 6'0, 189 pound defenceman played four seasons in the OHL and tallied 136 points (35-101-136) in 261 career games.

Also, the Hamilton Bulldogs have released defenceman Ryan McKie from an Amateur Tryout Contract.
