Bulldogs Can't Complete Comeback In 3-2 Loss To Admirals

MILWAUKEE, WI - The Hamilton Bulldogs nearly completed their two-goal comeback in the final minute of the game but the Milwaukee Admirals held on to defeat the 'Dogs 3-2.

The Admirals got on the board first, when Ryan Thang scored his 14th of the season at 11:11 into the first period. Chris Mueller put Milwaukee up 2-0 on a rebound goal after Bulldogs netminder Robert Mayer stopped Brodie Dumont's shot with an ice-level blocker save. After 20 minutes, the 'Dogs led 6-5 on the shot clock.

Mark Van Guilder added to Milwaukee's lead when he deflected Victor Bartley's low slapshot from the left point into the Bulldogs' net at 11:20 into the second period. Then, with 57 seconds to play in the second stanza, Ian Schultz gave the 'Dogs their first goal of the game, scoring his sixth of the season on a power play.

Brian Willsie scored the Bulldogs' second shorthanded goal in two games to tighten the Admirals' lead to 3-2 with 5:52 left in the third period. The 'Dogs came close to tying the game in the last minute of play but Milwaukee netminder Jeremy Smith made four consecutive saves on three different Bulldogs to give the Admirals the win. Hamilton registered a total of 17 shots while Milwaukee shot 26 times in the game.

The Bulldogs face the Chicago Wolves TOMORROW, Saturday, March 24th, 2012 at 8 p.m. at Allstate Arena.
