October 23, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
BOSSIER CITY, LA - Tonight the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs will be on the CenturyTel Center ice for the second time this season to play their first-ever game against the Allen Americans at 7:05, presented by 1st Choice Personnel. The Americans are one of two new Central Hockey League expansion teams for the 2009-2010 season.
The first 5,000 fans through the doors tonight will receive a free Mudbugs 09-10 magnet schedule courtesy of Johnny's Pizza. The game against Allen will also be our "Salute to the Great Outdoors" game, which will feature a number of events and activities centered on outdoor-related topics. Tonight will be the first of many "Flashback Friday" games throughout the season, in which the 'Bugs will wear their "Bossier-Shreveport Hockey Club" retro uniforms.
The Mudbugs enter the game with a 1-1 record after last Saturday's third-period rally that helped them earn their first win of the year in Corpus Christi. Now the 'Bugs will play their second home game against what is now their closest geographical rival from Allen, Texas. Located just 208 miles away from Bossier City, the expansion Americans will venture to Louisiana for the first-ever meeting between the two franchises tonight. Bossier-Shreveport will then head to Odessa to face the Jackalopes Saturday night at the Ector County Coliseum.
Allen started out the season in Arizona last weekend, stealing a pair of road victories in the first two games in the history of the franchise. The Americans beat the Sundogs 1-0 on Friday night and followed that with a 6-4 triumph on Saturday to move to 2-0 this year. Accompanying the visiting team tonight will be former Mudbugs defenseman Ryan Fairbarn, who was claimed off waivers and signed this week by Allen.
