Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Ottawa Lynx in the first game of a four-game series from Lynx Stadium (6:05 p.m.). The Herd is coming off their season-long homestand where they went 5-5. On the hill tonight will be LHP John Koronka. The southpaw allowed just one run in 5.2 innings of a no-decision against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday. Ottawa will counter with RHP Landon Jacobsen.
vs. THE LYNX: This four-game series in the final time the Bisons will ever face Ottawa. After this season, the team is moving to Pennsylvania to become the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Since rejoining the IL in 1998, the Herd has posted a 93-62 record against Ottawa. The 93 wins are the most Buffalo has against any other team during that time.
SOLID STARTER: John Koronka has posted a 2.91ERA in his last four starts, but is winless in his last three games. On Monday, he allowed just one run in 5.2 innings of work in a no-decision against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The only run the Yankees scored came on a solo home run, just the second home run allowed by Koronka in 30.1 innings this season.
IL BATTING RACE: Ben Francisco is 2nd in the International League batting race. At .322, the outfielder is three points behind Rochester's Jose Morales (.325). Francisco went 0-4 last night as his 15-game hit streak came to an end. From August 2-16, Francisco hit .381 (24-63). It was the 3rd longest hit streak for a Bison this season (Francisco, Franklin Gutierrez, 19-games)
NEW SPOT: Keith Ginter was moved to the #2 spot in the order on Tuesday for the first time this season. In the four games since, Ginter has hit .533 (8-15) with two home runs, five RBI, three walks and six runs scored. Ginter leads the Bisons with 58 walks on the year (T7th in the IL) while his .380 on-base percentage is 2nd on the Herd.
TWO'S BETTER: Keith Ginter's two-homer game last night was the Bisons sixth of the season and the first since Jason Cooper hit a pair in Charlotte on July 7. For Ginter, it was the second time he's blasted two, also going deep twice on May 1 in Syracuse. Buffalo is 6th in the International League with 108 home runs.
STILL ONE UP: Keith Ginter hit his 13th and 14th home run of the season, but Ryan Mulhern hit his 15th to maintain his team-lead. Mulhern also leads the Herd in doubles (34), RBI (72) and slugging percentage (.500).a
