Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Bisons will close out their eight-game homestand with the finale of their four-game series with the Durham Bulls at Dunn Tire Park (7:05 p.m.). Despite yesterday's 11-9 loss, the Herd is looking at a very successful homestand with victories in six of the first seven games. Buffalo is also in great position to pick up a series win against the Bulls, leading the set two games to one. To do so, the Bisons will send out RHP Jeremy Guthrie. Guthrie threw six shutout innings in a win on Tuesday to improve to 6-2 with a 4.50ERA in his last nine starts. That streak started on May 9 when Guthrie pitched six scoreless innings to beat the Bulls in Durham (6-1 win). Tonight, he'll be up against RHP John Webb. Webb threw seven strong innings (5H, 2R) in a no-decision in Pawtucket on Wednesday.
FAIRWELL BULLS: Tonight's game will be the final regular season match-up between the Bisons and Bulls this season. Buffalo has already won the season series, leading 5-2 heading into tonight. Buffalo has outscored Durham, 54-41.
HITS BUT NO WIN: Yesterday's defeat marked just the fifth time the Bisons out-hit an opponent but still lost. Buffalo was previously 30-4 and 17-1 at home in games they collected more hits. The only other time this season the Herd lost at home when out-hitting their opponent was on May 21 when they were defeated 2-1 by the Charlotte Knights (Bisons 8-5 in hits).
50 CLUB: Bisons' slugger Mike Kinkade drove in two more runs last night with his 11th home run of the season. Kinkade has seven RBI in the seven games this homestand, giving him 50 runs driven in this season. He's the third Bison to reach 50RBI as Ernie Young has 62RBI and Andy Abad has 54RBI. Jeff Liefer (49RBI) and Ryan Garko (47RBI) could also join the group soon.
MIGHTY JOE: Bisons' infielder/outfielder Joe Inglett picked up three more singles yesterday to raise his season average to .325. In his 13 games since June 8, Inglett is hitting .439 (18-41) with five multi-hit games.
MULTI MADNESS: With a pair of RBI-singles yesterday, Ernie Young picked up his 22nd multi-hit game of the year. He is one of five Bisons to have 20+ multi hit games this season, led by Ryan Garko's 23. Mike Kinkade also joined the group with his 20th multi-hit game Sunday afternoon (Jeff Liefer and Brandon Phillips have 22 multi-hit games).
