Columbus Clippers News Release
Dime-A-Dog, the Columbus tradition, continues tonight! Central Ohio has had a long love affair with the frankfurter. From Harry Stevens, the inventor of the Red Hot, who opened the very first concession stand in history at Recreation Park here in Columbus in 1887, to Harold Cooper, our patriarch for whom the stadium is named.
Harold's first job in baseball was as a boy. He was given a bucket of vinegar and a rag and had to wipe the mold off all the hot dogs before every game! Thank heaven for modern refrigeration.
It's going to be a beautiful evening. Come on out to The Coop and we will throw a couple of dogs on the grill for you. Gates open at 6 PM.
