Bucs Win Fourth in a Row

The Des Moines Buccaneers win a fourth consecutive game, 4-1 over the Lincoln Stars on Friday night at the Ice Box in Lincoln.

2007-born forward Ben Kevan (Arizona State//Fairfield, Ca.) scored his ninth and tenth goals of the season in the second period to put Des Moines ahead 4-1, and neither team would score again.

Jack Kernan (Minnesota State//Maple Grove, Minn.) opened the scoring for the Buccaneers on the power play in the first period, his 8th goal of the season, with Kevan and Braedon Ford earning assists.

Early in the second period, Ford (Miami//Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored his third goal of the weekend, giving the Bucs a 2-0 advantage. Paul Minnehan (Cypress, Ca.) and Luke Margenau (Maple Grove, Minn.) both earned assists on the goal, marking the 10th assist on the season for Minnehan.

Kevan made it 3-0 Buccaneers less than two minutes later, with Lubomir Kupco (St. Cloud State//Kosice, Slovakia) and Liam Watkins (Nebraska-Omaha//Okotoks, Alberta) tallying assists, their 8th and 9th of the year respectively.

Lincoln got on the board to make it 3-1 with Nikolas Young's first USHL goal.

But the Bucs regained the three-goal advantage with a steal and score by Kevan, his team-high tenth goal of the season, and the score held.

Ethan Dahlmeir (Lakeville, Minn.) started his fourth straight game for the Buccaneers, earning a win in each contest. Dahlmeir faced only 18 shots, but stopped 17 of them, and has allowed only one goal in each of his last three outings. His record sits at 5-3-0-0, while he holds a 2.64 GAA and .898 save percentage.

The Buccaneers opened the three-game road weekend with a 7-1 win Thursday at Omaha, and followed it up with the 4-1 victory at Lincoln on Friday. Des Moines is now 7-6-3-0 and travels to face the Waterloo Black Hawks in Dupaco Cowbell Cup action on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. CT at Young Arena.
