Des Moines 7, Omaha 1
Braedon Ford scored twice and assisted on another in helping lead Des Moines to a 7-1 road win at Omaha Thursday night.
The Buccaneers, who have now won five of their last six games, held a 2-0 lead at the first on the heels of goals from Lubomir Kupco and Joe Gramer.
The lead grew to 4-0 when Ford scored his first goal of the season at 2:13 of the second and Ilya Protas converted on a power play chance at 6:07. David Deputy's third goal of the year, which came at the 18:03 mark cut the deficit to two, but when Jack Kernan tallied with just over a minute remaining, Des Moines entered the locker room owning a 5-1 lead after two periods of play.
Ford scored his second of the game at 0:51 of the third and Connor Bewick's first goal as a USHLer, which came at 14:48, closed out the scoring in the game.
Now 6-6-3-0 on the year, the Buccaneers also received a three-assist night from Paul Minnehan and owned a 33-22 advantage in shots on goal in the game. Des Moines netminder Ethan Dahlmeir finished with 21 saves.
Play in the USHL continues Friday night with seven games on tap.
