Des Moines Buccaneers News Release

DES MOINES - After last night's 5-3 win against the Fargo Force, the Bucs would take to the ice battling the Sioux Falls Stampede. In front of a crowd of 2415, the Buccaneers would score first late in the first period with a powerplay goal courtesy of J.P. Burkemper. The goal came at 18:43 with assists from Ryan Walters and Nick Pryor. At the end of the period, Aaron Crandall would stop ten shots on goal.

Sioux Falls would score at 2:43 in the second period, tying the game at 1-1. Tempers began to flare on the ice as both teams were skating equally hard and battling for possession of the puck. The period would end with no Buccaneer goal, but Crandall would stop 15 of 16 shots on goal.

The third period was slow until 15:35 when Ryan Walters would score the second Buccaneer goal of the evening. He was assisted by teammates Joe Gleason and Brett Bruneteau. In a last minute attempt, the Stampede pulled their goalie but it wasn't enough. The Buccaneers would hold off the extra man for the 2-1 win. The Buccaneers would end the weekend with 2 wins at home for the first time this season.

"It was a well earned four points. We have a long way to go defensively, but Aaron Crandall kept us in all weekend, we finally got the points we've deserved for a long time. The guys have battled hard for and finally it paid off," said Associate Head Coach Scott McConnell.

Aaron Crandall would be named one of the stars of the game, alongside Ryan Walters and J.P. Burkemper. Crandall would end the game with 32 saves out of 33 shots on goal.

The Buccaneers are back on the ice at Buccaneer Arena on Friday, December 19th. They'll faceoff against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in their last home game of December. It's also Miller Lite Buc Beer Night presented by LAZER 103.3. Fans can purchase $1 Miller Lite draws all night long.
