Cedar Rapids RoughRiders News Release
Council Bluffs, Iowa- Louis Leblanc scored at 1:54 of overtime to give the host Omaha Lancers 3-2 win over the RoughRiders Friday night. The Riders did earn one point for the overtime loss.
Leblanc, who also had an assist, weaved into the slot to snap the game winning goal home.
The Lancers rebounded for the win after the Riders forced overtime when Matt Donovan scored his second goal of the game with just 1:26 left in regulation. Until Donovan buried Robin Bergman's centering pass, it seemed Taylor Holstrom's close range goal at 5:58 of the third period would stand up as the game winner.
The Riders were held off the scoreboard until Donovan scored a fluke goal to tie the game at one with just 56 seconds left in the second period. The defenseman flipped a pass from his own blue line through center ice that did not connect with teammate Brett Gensler but did somehow sail all the way in past Jeff Teglia in the Omaha net.
The Lancers were on the power play when Dakota Eveland opened the scoring with a drive from the high slot at 6:16 of the first period.
