Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
The Waterloo Black Hawks put 53 shots on net Saturday during a 7-2 win against the Tri City Storm in Kearney, Nebraska.
The Black Hawks starting forwards started the scoring 3:03 into the game; Craig Smith fired a Jordan Samuels-Thomas feed under the crossbar during a two-on-one. Later, Samuels-Thomas scored from the slot at 9:28. The third member of the line, Ben Miller, would put in a backhander at 4:12 of the second.
The first period also included goals by Nick Larson for Waterloo and Mike Cichy for Tri City. Cichy brought the Storm back to within 4-2 with his second power play goal at 6:41 of the second.
Eddie Olczyk made sure Tri City would not claw closer. At 11:21 of the second he stick-handled goalie T.J. Massie to the ice and flipped the puck into an open goal. Olczyk struck again for the Hawks' final goal, redirecting a Patrick Wey shot at 14:43. In between, Derek Arnold planted a goal 7:12 into the final period.
The Black Hawks play their final game of three straight away from home at Chicago Friday. The last game before Christmas is at Young Arena on Saturday, December 20th against the Indiana Ice.
