DES MOINES, IA - Bucs' center Mac Welsher announced his commitment to Merrimack College this morning, becoming the 15th college committed player on the Buccaneer roster this season.
"It feels great to be committed to a school like Merrimack," Welsher said. "I loved the campus, the coaching staff and being able to play in a conference like the Hockey East is a privilege."
The Grosse Pointe Farms, MI native was acquired this offseason in a trade from Green Bay and has tallied two assists in his first three games as a Buccaneer.
"We are thrilled for Mac and think Merrimack will be a great fit," Head Coach Gene Reilly said. "He is a great character kid and will be an excellent piece for Merrimack's program."
The Buccaneers are in action this weekend against Tri-City for a home and home series with the Storm. Friday night is Dollar Hot Dog night at Buccaneer Arena and the Bucs will head to Kearney, NE for Saturday's game.
