Storm Fall to Des Moines 4-2 in First Loss of Season

Urbandale, IA - The Tri-City Storm dropped a 4-2 game to the Des Moines Buccaneers on Friday night at Buccaneer Arena in Urbandale, IA. The loss was the first of the season for the Storm, and it snapped a five game win streak for Tri-City. Joe Molenaar and Jake Crespi scored goals in the game, and Isaiah Saville recorded the loss in net.

Tri-City's Joe Molenaar opened the scoring 13 minutes into the game with Khristian Acosta picking up the assist. The Storm was outshot 19-9 in the 1st period, but carried a one goal lead into the 2nd period. Des Moines found the game tying goal at 16:16 of the 2nd period on Luke Manning's 1st goal of the season. Des Moines outshot Tri-City 9-8 in the 2nd period, and the two team's entered the 3rd period in a 1-1 tie.

Matt Brown gave Des Moines a spark in the opening minutes of the 3rd period, scoring his 7th and 8th goals of the season. Brown's 8th goal of the season was scored at 6:55 of the period and increased the Des Moines lead to 3-1. Braden Costello netted his 1st goal of the season at the 9:19 mark of the 3rd period to give the Buccaneers its 4th unanswered goal. Tri-City scored a power play goal with under three minutes to play to bring the score to 4-2. The goal was scored by Jake Crespi and was assisted by Brad Morrissey and Colby Ambrosio. The goal was Crespi's 3rd of the season. Isaiah Saville made 31 saves on 35 saves and recorded his 1st loss of the season in net.

The Storm return to the Viaero Center Saturday night following a road game loss to Des Moines on Friday. Tickets are still available for Tri-City's two game home set against Des Moines on Saturday and Omaha on Sunday. Saturday's game will begin at 7:05pm and will feature a rematch of the Storm's home opener against the Des Moines Buccaneers. Sunday's game is set to begin at 5:05pm and will showcase an instate rivalry matchup against the Omaha Lancers. Tri-City now looks ahead to its next game against the Des Moines Buccaneers. The matchup will take place at the Viaero Center in Kearney, NE on Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm CT, with the broadcast beginning on Storm Radio at 6:45pm.
