Preview: Storm Faceoff against Des Moines in Road Matchup

Urbandale, IA. - The Tri-City Storm begin a three game weekend tonight in Urbandale, IA in a matchup against the Des Moines Buccaneers. Last weekend, Tri-City shutout the Bucs 3-0 to win the home opener at the Viaero Center in Kearney. Following a home win over Lincoln on Tuesday, Tri-City is off to its best start in team history at 5-0.

Tri-City (5-0) scored one goal in each period in last weekend's victory over Des Moines, with Asa Kinnear, Ronnie Attard, and Ruben Rafkin scoring goals for the Storm offense. Isaiah Saville stopped all 25 Buccaneer shots and earned USHL Goaltender of the Week honors for his efforts. Through five games played, Tri-City is averaging 3.6 goals per game, and has given up the least amount of goals of any team in the USHL (7). Filip Forsmark leads the team with 5 points on the season, all assists. Benji Eckerle, Jake Crespi, Asa Kinnear, and Ian Murphy have all scored 2 goals and are tied for the team lead.

Des Moines (4-2) enters tonight's game in 4th place in the Western Conference standings. After falling 3-0 in Tri-City's home opener last Friday, Des Moines bounced back with a 3-2 home win over the Lincoln Stars the following night. Matt Brown is currently tied for the league lead in both goals and points. Brown was held off the board by Tri-City last weekend, but has already netted 6 goals and recorded 11 points in 6 games played. Roman Durny recorded the loss in net in the team's first meeting of the season last Friday.

Tri-City will return home after tonight's game and play back to back games at the Viaero Center to conclude a three game weekend. Tomorrow, Tri-City will play host to the Des Moines Buccaneers at 7:05pm. On Sunday, in the final game of the weekend, the Storm will battle rival Omaha at the Viaero Center at 5:05pm.

Tonight's game is set to begin at 7:05pm CT, and will be streamed live on HockeyTV, and Storm Radio. HockeyTV is a subscription based service that carries all Storm home and away games throughout the season. Storm Radio is the new audio broadcast home for Tri-City Storm hockey and can be accessed through Mixlr, StormHockey.com, or by downloading the official Tri-City Storm Mobile App. The broadcast will begin twenty minutes prior to the advertised game start time.
