Omaha Lancers News Release
OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers took on the Des Moines Buccaneers at Liberty First Credit Union Arena Friday Night. The Buccaneers came into tonight's contest being the only western conference foe the Lancers had yet to put in the "L" column this season with the Lancers being outscored 16-5 in just three prior meetings with the Bucs this season.
The first period would have a defensive struggle between the two clubs, with the Buccaneers' forecheck creating havoc for the Lancers offensive thrust throughout.
Lancer goaltender Michael Hrabal would be solid however, stopping all first period Des Moines shots to keep it at a scoreless tie heading into the second period of play.
The second period continued with dominant Buccaneer play, as the Lancers would struggle to generate any offense against the Bucs.
Finally, Des Moines would cash in as defenseman Owen West would throw a rather harmless looking wrist shot from the half-boards however, the puck would be bouncing on the way to the net, as Michael Hrabal could not quite track it down cleanly to give Des Moines the 1-0 advantage heading into the third.
The third had a sharper Lancer club to begin the period however, the Lancers powerplay struggled, leading to an eventual Des Moines victory as later on with under a minute to go in the game forward Jack Reimann would bury the empty netter and take the 2-0 victory.
The Lancers are back in action tomorrow night against the very same Des Moines team at Buccaneer Arena in Urbandale. Puck drop is at 6:05 CST. You can catch the game on Mixlr or FloSports.
