
Stampede Drops Game One to Storm

KEARNEY, NEB.-The Sioux Falls Stampede Hockey Club fell, 6-3, to the Tri-City Storm during night one of the Herd's road trip to Kearney, Neb. Isaac Gordon, Ryan Gordon, and Sam Harris found their spots on the scoresheet throughout the third period.
The first twenty minutes of play saw just one goal from the Storm, five minutes into the period. The Herd was able to put just six shots on the net during the period versus the Storm's 11. The penalty boxes saw action from both benches with Noah Andersson and Clint Levens both taking minor penalties for the Stampede while Cam O'Neill and Philippe Blais-Savoie finding time for the Storm.
The Herd struggled to get pucks on Cameron Korpi's net in the second period, marking seven shots during the 20-minute period. The Storm was able to capitalize with four goals during the period, forcing the Stampede to fight back from a five-goal deficit heading to the third period.
The third period saw a flip to the script with the Herd marking three goals and the Storm adding just one to their scoreboard. Isaac Gordon got the Stampede on the board, while on a powerplay, just under two minutes into the period. Gordon's 17th goal this season was assisted by Maddox Fleming and JJ Wiebusch to make the score 5-1. Ryan Gordon added his own goal 3:13 into the period with an assist from Noah Andersson. Sam Harris got the Herd back within two goals with just under three minutes to play off an assist from Chris Pelosi. The Storm was able to answer back with an empty net goal 18:04 into the period to make it 6-3 in favor of the Storm.
Xavier Medina stopped 20 of 25 shots on net during his two periods between the pipes for the Stampede. Coming in for relief, Caleb Heil stopped six shots for a 100% save percentage while between the pipes during the third period.
The Herd will finish the weekend in Kearney with a 7:05 puck drop on Saturday night. They then come back to Sioux Falls to play two home weekends at the Denny Sanford Premier Center, playing five of the seven remaining regular-season games at home.
